The graduate induction week will ensure a good understanding of the Close Brothers businesses and encourage networking with Senior Managing Directors and Department Heads. The week will also include several interactive and challenging personal effectiveness workshops to support transition into the business environment.
On the job learning
Graduates will be supported at their desk by business colleagues. This includes shadowing team members, systems training, taking part and even leading specific projects. Each role will include rotations within the business unit joined which gives a broader experience and knowledge base.
Bespoke learning opportunities
Human Resources and Learning and Development work with graduates and their line managers to source the most suitable learning path; this consists of four tailored development workshops a year for the cohort which aims to support development needs. We want to ensure transition into the business world is as seamless as possible.
Graduates are assigned a business mentor mid way through the first year to help build on knowledge, confidence and further support the transition into the organisation.
Close Brothers provide sponsorship to complete relevant external qualifications that support development within each chosen business area. Line managers will advise on the most relevant professional qualification. Examples of some of the well known qualifications we sponsor are: ACCA, CIMA, CIPD and CFA.
Corporate social responsibility
There are a number of great CSR initiatives happening across the group raising money for many worthwhile charities. Specific graduate activities have previously taken place such as the ‘Apprentice Challenge’ to develop team building, creativity and communication skills within the groups.
